Water System Infrastructure Overview

The Otis water system comprises three wells positioned 3.5 miles south of Otis and another three wells approximately 2 miles east of the primary well field. These wells pump water into a 10-inch PVC supply line. The supply line directs water to ground storage tanks situated on the south side of Derrick Road and booster stations named Prairie View and Harkness, located off Old Cavern Hwy.

Booster Tank System at the Treatment Plant

Water from the ground storage tanks enters two booster tanks within the Treatment Plant, which is situated between the ground storage tanks. At each booster pump line, a 12% sodium hypochlorite solution is injected into the suction to chlorinate the water. The chlorinated water is then pumped into the top of a 150,000-gallon elevated storage tank, known as the High Tower, situated on Derrick Road. Additionally, a 75,000-gallon elevated storage tank, referred to as the Low Tower, is positioned at the water office. This tank supplies water eastward on Bannister Road to Grandi Road, where it branches north and south. The Low Tower functions as a float valve, ensuring water provision to the area based on demand. Overall, the system boasts a storage capacity of 1,550,000 million gallons.
